I was worried when I had to file a claim with Voya for critical illness having read the reviews on this site as well as the BBB. To my please surprise, I put in my claim on March 16, 2020, and received a direct deposit TODAY! Maybe the issue comes to people requesting paper checks? My experience with voya was excellent! Just in time to get my medical bills paid before they can go to collections. Although, I did have to follow up on my review decision as it had exceeded 10 business days.

My employer used Voya for our 401k plan administration for many years now. The few times I called, they were friendly and professional. The only problem is if you try and get your money OUT of Voya. They send a confirmation of the withdrawal a week later, but the check arrived 2 weeks later. Came from same place, took twice as long. They set expectations to get the check in just over a week, and when it didn’t arrive they said wait 2 weeks before calling back. Seems to me they are just trying to make interest on your money, delaying your check. Other than that, very good service. Access to your money is important, would not use them again for this reason alone.

My previous employer moved their retirement accounts to these (censored)hats. $50 to send a distribution check by priority mail (I declined), a non-negotiable $150 distribution fee on an $1800 account (the most I’ve ever been charged before for larger accounts was $75). I’m sure the rest of their fees are just as atrocious. Their reps read the legal disclaimers so fast that you can’t process what they’re saying, even as a native English speaker. Absolutely awful.
Conclusion

With their commitment to excellent customer service, flexible policies, and solid financial stability rating, Voya stands out in the life insurance industry.
