The right carrier access can help you place more business, expand the options available to clients, and create more commission opportunities. Markets makes that access easier by connecting agents to participating carriers through Agency Height’s market relationships.
Depending on the carrier, you may be able to request appointment access, complete carrier-managed onboarding through a partner portal, or submit eligible risks through Agency Height’s wholesale channel, where Agency Height underwriting manages the submission.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to find the right carrier, review its market information, and choose the access route available for the risk.
Search Carrier Search in Markets
Start in Markets to see the carriers currently available through Agency Height.
1.Log in to your Agency Height account.
2.From the Dashboard, select Markets from the left navigation.
3.Open the Available carriers tab.

Search for a carrier
There are three ways to search, and which one works best depends on how much you already know about the risk.
- Search by carrier name if you already know who you want to place business with, or by coverage keyword like life, trucking.
- Filter by coverage type, state, and industry code — the state filter narrows further once you have picked a coverage type
- Browse the full carrier directory if you do not have a specific risk in mind yet .
Narrow Carrier Results With Filters
Filtering helps you narrow the carrier list based on the risk you are trying to place.
Three filters sit directly on the search bar: State, Coverage, and Industry. Select any of them and the carrier list narrows automatically, with no separate apply step.

Need a tighter match? Select More filters for additional options such as Insurance Type, Admitted Status, Access Type, and Carrier Rating.
- Insurance Type: Personal, Commercial, or Life
- State: carriers licensed or actively writing there
- Industry: search by keyword (e.g. “trucking”) to pull matching NAICS codes, each with a Show details row for the exact classification
- Coverage: a specific line, e.g. General Liability or BOP
- Admitted Status: Admitted, Non-Admitted, or both
- Access Type: how you’d get in: Wholesale, Appointment via sub codes, or Just in Time
- Carrier Rating: filters by AM Best financial strength score

Reading a carrier card
Before you click anything, every carrier card already tells you four things:
- Regulation: whether the carrier is Admitted or Non-Admitted.
- Tags: the coverage lines and industries the carrier writes.
- AM Best Rating: the carrier’s financial strength rating, where available.
- Access Options: Request Appointment, Request Quotes, or Open Portal.
- Access details: the line below the button explains how that carrier is available, such as appointment access or wholesale submission without an appointment or immediate access through the carrier’s portal.

Markets updates carrier appetite and state availability in real time, but it shows up card by card, not as a single rating.
A card’s Regulation, Tags, and status line already tell you where a carrier stands.

Review the Full Carrier Profile
Once a carrier looks like a fit, open the profile before choosing how to access the market. Depending on what the carrier provides, you may be able to review:
- Products and coverage: confirm the carrier writes the coverage you need.
- State availability: check that the market is available where the client needs coverage.
- Appetite information: review the classes or risks the carrier is looking to write.
- Resources: review any carrier guides, forms, or supporting materials provided.
- Commission information: review available rates where the carrier provides them.
Use the carrier profile to confirm the coverage and state fit before moving forward.

Understanding Commission Information
If commission information is available, review it after confirming the carrier fits the risk. Some profiles may show a general commission range, while others provide rates by product, state, new business, or renewal.
- New Business: the commission shown for a new policy.
- Renewal: the commission shown when the policy renews.
Rates can vary by product and state, so compare the rate for the coverage and state you are actually placing.
Choose How to Access the Carrier
The access option depends on the carrier. In Markets, you may be able to submit a risk through wholesale access, request an appointment, or open the carrier’s portal to complete its access process.
| Access Type | Action | What happens |
| Submit the risk directly | Request Quotes | No appointment needed, Agency Height submits the risk under its own wholesale license on your behalf — your E&O, W-9, and license still need to be verified first |
| Request an appointment | Request Appointment | Request carrier access for eligible states through Agency Height’s carrier relationship. Once approved, the agent can quote under the available subcode access |
| Get instant carrier access | Open Portal | Apply through the carrier’s partner portal using our partner link and receive credentials directly |

Not verified yet? Set the Access Type filter to Just in Time — it is the only route that works before compliance clears. Wholesale and Request Appointment both need your E&O, W-9, and license verified first.
Next Steps for Carrier Access
Once you’ve reviewed the carrier profile and confirmed the market fits the risk, the next step is getting access so you can move toward quoting or placing the business.
